Rally Information

WHAT KIND OF CARS ARE INVITED?

Any car, truck van, SUV, whatever. Just no motorcycles.

If you like driving it, bring it. If it’s cool, bring it. If it sucks, bring it. Big, small, fast, slow, beautiful, ugly, BRING IT!

PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY

A full, valid, and current drivers license is required for drivers (be ready to show proof). If you can’t show a full, valid, and current street license, you’re welcome to ride but not drive (crew). Anyone under 18 must have signed a minor waiver by a legal guardian.

PRICE

Entry - $80 per entered vehicle, regardless of number of team members. Stuff as many people as you can legally fit in your ride. The entry fee includes the Route Book, scoring along the way, stickers, patches, other crap, and anything else we come up with by then.

Late Fees and Onsite Registration - A $20 fee will be assessed if you don’t pay prior to the end of online registration (five (5) days before the event start). Late entrants may pay the $100 total onsite WITH CASH ONLY.

Overnight Accommodations in Truth or Consequences- Saturday night all teams will be responsible for finding their own place to stay, this is not a part of your reservation to the rally. Red River has tons of really cool places to stay. Book early because they fill up quick on the weekends.

SCORING

STARTING POINTS -  Extra starting points are awarded by judges for vehicle awesomeness, team ridiculousness, general hilarity, etc.

WAYPOINT POINTS - Each day has scenic, historic, and/or bizarre checkpoints with various point values. You probably can’t hit them all, so just pick the routes that appeal to you. To be scored, take a pic of your car or team in front of the checkpoint and post it on your team’s instagram with the appropriate hashtag.

MAGNIFICENCE/ABSURDITY POINTS - Additional points at the organizers’ discretion for excellent photos/videos/web posts you share with us; for super-sus behavior; for road side repairs; for adventures above and beyond; and for anything else we deem atypically fantastic.

AWARDS and TROPHYS - We be awarding a grandiose trophy to the team that wins by overall points. We will also be awarding other trophies and prizes in random categories including but not limited to: judges’ choice best car -hooptiest car award -Team spirit award -best insta posts award… etc.

A Taste of the Scoring
Hit waypoints, post a pic, earn points. Do ridiculous stuff, post it, earn points. Show up in something interesting, earn even more points.
Performance
+100 POINTS for matching team outfits
+10-150 Optional checkpoints and challenges en route


+/- 0-150 side quests (how good’s your story?)
+70 For best instagram post of the day


+0-900 For junkyard parts or vehicle modification gained en route


+0-900 For ridiculous themes &/or outfits

-0-900 For being a general butthole

SAFETY, ROADWORTHINESS, SUPPLIES
Melonball Rally Masters can demand any change to routes, schedules, vehicles, teams, etc.
Teams are responsible for making sure their vehicle is in good mechanical condition, and safe and legal for the road.
Come prepared! Bring water, food, first aid, tools and anything else you may need for a long, grueling, and often very remote road trip.

ACCIDENTS OR MOVING VIOLATIONS

YOU’RE LIABLE - What you’re doing here can be dangerous. You’ve made the decision to do it anyway, and you understand and accept that you’re responsible for what happens as a result.

ROUTES - The Route Book lists daily starts, finishes, and checkpoints. It’s your job to pick which roads get you there.
